Embassy Spokesperson's Remarks on the "Espionage" Accusation
2005/06/21

This is nothing but pure fabrication made up by certain people to build their case for political asylum in Australia. It is totally groundless and not worth commenting. Actually, this is not the first time that such accusations have been made. But all previous accusations have turned out to be untrue. It is our belief that rumors stop before the wise.

The following is a brief introduction of one of the "accusers":

Mr. Hao Fengjun, 32 years old, was a junior police officer of the Tianjin Municipality. In June 2004, he was given disciplinary sanction for extorting bribes. Nursing a grievance, he later falsified documents to obtain a passport and fled to Australia in February 2005 with his mistress, leaving his wife and 7-year-old son behind. In order to make a case for the so-called political asylum in Australia, he later made up lies and falsely accused China of persecuting him.
