The Spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy on the Murder Case of Jun Lin, a Chinese Student Studying in Montreal

On 1 June, 2012, the Federal Government of Canada confirmed to the Chinese Embassy in Canada that the victim of the recent murder case in Montreal is Jun Lin, a Chinese student studying at Concordia University, Montreal.

We are greatly shocked by the heinous criminal act and hereby express our strong condemnation and extend our full condolences to the victim and his family.

The Chinese Embassy in Canada and Chinese Consulate-General in Montreal are in close contact with the Federal and local governments and the police of Canada on this case. We have on the first instance put the request to the local police to track down the criminal as soon as possible and asked the relevant Canadian authorities to take effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals in Canada.

The Canadian officials have made the commitment to go all out to bring the criminal to justice at an early date and will provide all necessary assistance and convenience to the family of the deceased.
