An Important Notice of Requiring China-bound Passengers to Obtain COVID-19 Negative Certificates before Boarding

According to the announcement of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the General Administration of Customs of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 20 and the latest requirements of the relevant Chinese government authorities, all passengers who are to fly directly from Canada to China will be required to provide a negative certificate of Covid-19 nucleic acid test issued within three days (72 hours) before boarding, starting from 9 September, 2020. The detailed requirements are as follows:

I. All passengers who are to take a direct flight from Canada to China, shall take nucleic acid tests for Covid-19 and provide a negative certificate issued within three days (72 hours) before boarding.  The test shall be done at the institutions or hospitals recognized by the Chinese Embassy or consulates in Canada (See Attachment).  Please confirm with the relevant institution or hospital on the issuing date of the negative certificate in advance.  If the certificate is an electronic one, please print it out and bring a copy with you for check-in. The airlines will strictly check the certificate and keep it for record.

II. Foreign passengers from a third country who are to transit in Canada and then fly directly to China, shall present to the airlines a Health Declaration Form, which shall be verified by the Chinese Embassy or consulates in the above-mentioned third country.  The form is valid for three days (72 hours).  The Airlines in Canada will strictly check the form and keep it for record.

III. All passengers who are to transit in a third country and then fly directly to China, shall follow the requirements stated in the notice published on July 29 on this Embassy's official website (http://ca.chineseembassy.org/eng/sggg/t1801824.htm).  

IV. Important reminder: Passengers who provide fraudulent certificates and endanger other people or public health safety, shall be liable for legal consequences.
