Ambassador Lu Shaye and His Wife Hold Reception Marking His Assumption of Office

On the evening of April 5th, Ambassador Lu Shaye and his wife held a reception marking his assumption of office at the Embassy. Over 350 people including Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade, Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Andrew Leslie, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, several members of Senate and the House of Commons of Canada, foreign diplomatic envoys to Canada as well as representatives from overseas Chinese community, media, industrial and commercial circles were present.

Speaking positively of bilateral relations in his speech, Ambassador Lu expressed that Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau successfully exchanged visits last year, making bilateral relations enter into a new "Golden Era". As a newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Canada, he will continue to vigorously promote the implementation of outcomes of mutual visits between both prime ministers, enhance bilateral political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges, in a bid to push bilateral relations for smooth development. Ambassador Lu stated at the meantime that Chinese Embassy in Canada will better its works in consular protection to provide better serve to overseas Chinese in Canada.

 
On behalf of the Canadian government, Pamela Goldsmith-Jones welcomed Ambassador Lu to assume his new post, saying that Canada will make joint efforts with China to implement the outcomes obtained from both prime ministers' mutual visits, so as to advance a greater development of bilateral relations in a new period.

The reception was held amid a warm and delightful atmosphere, and all guests wished bilateral relations a sustained and healthy development.
