Minister-Counselor Heng Xiaojun Attends Chinese New Year Celebrations Held by Overseas Chinese Associations in Nova Scotia

On February 17th and 18th, Minister-Counselor Heng Xiaojun attended the Chinese New Year Banquets respectively held by the Chinese Society and the Chinese Benevolent Association of Nova Scotia in Halifax. Guests including Lieutenant Governor Arthur LeBlanc, Minister of Agriculture Keith Colwell, Mayor of Halifax Mike Savage, President of Saint Mary's University Robert Summerby-Murray, and Minister of Immigration Lena Diab of Nova Scotia attended respectively. Minister-Counselor Heng fully affirmed in his speech the positive roles that the Chinese Society and the Chinese Benevolent Association of Nova Scotia have played over the years in building a harmonious Chinese community and enriching Canada’s multiculture. Heng also introduced the development situations of China’s economy and China-Canada relations, and encouraged them to make new contributions to China-Canada friendly relations.

During his stay in Nova Scotia, Minister-Counselor Heng Xiaojun also visited representatives of overseas Chinese and Chinese students in Canada, and wished them a happy Chinese New Year.
