Justice Minister Wu Aiying Concluded Her Visit in Canada

       At the invitation of Honorable Robert Douglas Nicholsen, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Mme. Wu Aiying, Minister of Justice of the People’s Republic of China, visited Canada from 15 to 19 July 2009. During her visit, Minister Wu held talks with Honorable Minister Nicholsen. Both sides agreed to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the justice sphere in order to promote the all-around development of bilateral relations. Minister Wu paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Justice Louis LeBel of the Supreme Court of Canada. She also met with Mr. Don Head, Commissioner of the Correctional Services Canada, and Mr. John Hoyles, CEO of the Canadian Bar Association respectively, inquiring about the Canadian experience and practice in the community correction and penitentiary management, and exchanging views on furthering legal aid collaboration between China and Canada. Minister Wu also visited the Correctional Residential Facility in Vancouver and the Bath Institution in Kingston. Mr. Yang Youming, Charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Canada accompanied Minister Wu during her visit.
