Ambassador Zhang Junsai Paid Courtesy Call on the Hon. Peter Van Loan, Minister of International Trade of Canada

On February 1, 2011, H.E. Zhang Junsai, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Canada, paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Peter Van Loan, Minister of International Trade of Canada.

Ambassador Zhang first conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes from H.E. Chen Deming, Minister of Commerce of China. Ambassador Zhang spoke highly of the development in China-Canada economic and trade relations as well as the two-way investment. He expressed his appreciation and thanks to Minister Van Loan for his efforts in developing China-Canada cooperation in the areas such as economy and trade. He indicated that he is looking forward to working with the Canadian side to push for new development in the China-Canada economic and trade relations so as to realize the goal put forward by leaders of both countries last year to double the two-way trade volume by 2015.

Minister Van Loan welcomed Ambassador Zhang on his assumption of office in Canada. He thanked the Chinese side for the warm hospitality accorded him during his visit to China in October last year. Mr. Van Loan said he was pleased to see that in recent years, the Canada-China relations have maintained a good momentum of development and two countries have maintained close cooperation in various areas. He said that he had just returned from the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos and had a good conversation with his Chinese counterpart Minister Chen Deming. He indicated that he was ready to work with the Chinese side to push for the new development in the mutually-beneficial economic cooperation between the two countries.
