Ambassador Luo Zhaohui Meets with President Zhong Weihe of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

On 16 May 2016, Ambassador Luo Zhaohui met with a delegation of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) led by its president Prof. Zhong Weihe. Minister-Counsellor (Education) Yang Xinyu and Counsellor Tao Yihong attended the meeting.

Ambassador Luo welcomed President Zhong Weihe and his delegation to Ottawa and expressed appreciation of GDUFS’ fruitful programme of Canadian studies and its collaboration with Canadian universities in translation and interpretation training, and joint teaching and research projects. He also briefed the guests of the latest developments in China-Canada relations, hoping that GDUFS will deepen its Canadian studies and contribute to the growth of China-Canada relations.

The host and the guests also exchanged views on innovation-driven development, country- and region-specific research, think tanks at universities, the mission of higher education institutions to serve the nation’s strategic needs, and the concept of each university having its own distinctive specialty programmes and courses.
