Canada-China Friendship Society Hosts 2016 Chinese New Year's Banquet

The Year of the Monkey New Year's Banquet of the Canada-China Friendship Society (CCFS) was held on the evening of 20 February 2016 in Ottawa. Minister and DCM of the Chinese Embassy Wang Wentian, Minister-Counsellor (Culture) Zhao Haisheng, CCFS Ottawa President Gary Levy, Federal MP and CCFS member Anita Vandenbeld and nearly 230 people from various circles attended the CCFS annual New Year's dinner.

Speaking at the event, Minister Wang Wentian extended Chinese New Year's greetings to the guests and briefed them on the latest developments in China-Canada relations. He applauded CCFS's important contribution to the friendly relations between China and Canada.

In her toast, Anita Vandenbeld MP extended festive greetings to the guests on behalf of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Canadian government and expressed thanks to the Chinese Embassy for its support to the Canada-China Friendship Society. She also presented Spring Festival souvenirs to the guests who were in a Year of the Monkey.
