Foreign Minister Wang Yi Holds Talks with Foreign Minister John Baird of Canada

On July 4, 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in the Foreign Ministry with Foreign Minister John Baird of Canada, who is on an official visit to China.

Wang Yi said that in recent years, China and Canada have made substantial progress in bilateral relations. China highly values China-Canada relationship and is willing to make joint efforts with Canada from a strategic and long-term perspective to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in all fields, to deepen communication and coordination in major international and regional affairs and to continuously enrich the bilateral strategic partnership.

Baird said that it is a priority of Canada's foreign policy to comprehensively deepen its relations with China. Canada is willing to work with China to further expand bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy, resources, culture, education and other fields to push forward the bilateral relations for new greater development. Baird reaffirmed that the Canadian government will continue to adhere to the One-China policy.

They as well exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual interest.
