Special Report: Qinghai Earthquake
2010/04/22

The Chinese Embassy in Canada flew Wednesday morning the five-star Chinese national flag at half-mast in an effort to join the Chinese throughout the world to mourn the victims of a strong earthquake in northwest China.

Ambassador Lan Lijun said at a mourning ceremony that while offering donations to their compatriots who survived the earthquake, the staff members at the embassy are determined to work more hard to show their support to the recovery and reconstruction of the quake hit areas.

A 7.1-magnitude quake struck Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu in southern Qinghai on April 14, leaving at least 2,064 people dead, 175 missing, and 12,135 injured as of Tuesday.
