Ambassador Zhang Junsai Paid Courtesy Call on the Hon. Stockwell Day, President of the Treasury Board and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway

On December 14, 2010, H.E. Zhang Junsai, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Canada, paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Stockwell Day, President of the Treasury Board and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway of Canada.

Ambassador Zhang said, at present, China-Canada relations have maintained a good momentum of development with remarkable achievements. As the ADS agreement being implemented between China and Canada, together with the opening of direct flights between Beijing and Toronto by the Hainan Airlines of China, there will be more and more Chinese tourists coming to Canada. The Chinese side attaches importance to the China-Canada relations and is looking forward to working with the Canadian side to push for new development in the China-Canada strategic partnership.

Minister Day welcomed Ambassador Zhang on his assumption of office in Canada. He said he had just visited China in November and each visit to China had brought new impressions about China’s surprising development pace. As a minister in charge of Canada’s Asia-Pacific Gateway, he is looking forward to working closely with the Chinese side to promote the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transportation and infrastructure.

The two sides also exchanged views on the cooperation between the two countries in the area of civil aviation, education and energy.
