On December 16, 2010, H.E. Zhang Junsai, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Canada, paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food of Canada.
Ambassador Zhang said, in the past 40 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Canada, China-Canada relations have developed smoothly with substantial progress in the agricultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. The Chinese side is looking forward to working with the Canadian side to push for new development in the cooperation between the two countries in the area of agriculture and agri-food.
Minister Ritz welcomed Ambassador Zhang on his assumption of office in Canada. He said, he was pleased to see that Canada-China relations have maintained a good momentum of development in recent years. There have been many heartening progress in the cooperation between the two countries in various fields. He was greatly honored to have participated both in Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s visit to China in December, 2009 and in receiving Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to Canada in June. He was pleased to note that the bilateral relations have matured. He is looking forward to strengthening exchanges and contacts with the Chinese side so as to push for greater development in the agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
