Ambassador Zhang Junsai meets Mayor of Montreal

On June 22, His Excellency Zhang Junsai, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Canada, had a courtesy call on His Worship GĂ©rald Tremblay, Mayor of Montreal.

Ambassador Zhang expressed appreciation for the Mayor and the City of Montreal for their support for the opening of the Chinese Consulate General in Montreal.

Ambassador Zhang said that since Shanghai and Montreal became sister cities, China and Montreal have had good cooperation in commerce, trade, financing, aerospace, culture and education. Many Chinese companies are increasingly interested in investing and opening offices in Montreal. The Chinese Consulate General in Montreal will be the bridge between companies in China, Canada and Montreal. The Chinese side is ready to work with Montreal to explore cooperation potential and business opportunities.

Mayor Tremblay congratulated on the opening of the Consulate General and said that it had been his dream for the past ten years. The Mayor also noted that frequent mutual visits are the foundation for better commerce and trade cooperation. Montreal is ready to forge a regular exchange mechanism with the Chinese side and fully support Chinese companies' future business operations in Montreal.

The Mayor expressed his wish to visit China again soon.

Also present at the meeting was Mr. Qin Zhanpeng, Vice Consul-General of the Chinese Consulate General in Montreal.
