In a written speech upon his arrival on Wednesday, he highlighted the achievements China and Canada have made in boosting economic and trade cooperation since the two countries established diplomatic relations 40 years ago.

The development of the relationship not only brought real benefits to the two countries, but also promoted the Asia-Pacific region. During his visit in Britain, Li Changchun met with Duke of York, Prince Andrew in Buckingham Palace.

He also attended and spoke at the fifth anniversary celebration of the Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine at London's South Bank University. After his four-day official visit in Britain, he flew from London to Ottawa.
