In a video conference with President Vivek Goel of the University of Waterloo on September 13, Ambassador Cong Peiwu introduced China's plan to build a modern socialist country including building China into a country strong in education, and encouraged University of Waterloo to continue education collaboration and people-to-people exchanges with Chinese counterparts.

President Goel confirmed that the University opposes racism, welcomes Chinese students, attaches importance to their safety and health, and is providing high-quality in-person and on-line education to the Chinese students and other Waterloo students while keeping and expanding the mutually-beneficial research and innovation collaboration in different areas with Chinese partners.
